My Prius saves me a bundle. It was more expensive to buy at first but it paid off that premium in savings at the pump after a little over two years. Now, I save enormously on every fill up, which happens only once a month and every fill-up has been under $30. Plus, the gas I *don't* pump means less money in the pockets of Big Oil and OPEC. Win! Win! Win!

There doesn't seem to be much regulation on what they can call a hybrid so some manufacturers are using that term liberally and the customer is the only one that loses.

I'd love a Prius, but who can afford one? The Civic, that I do have (2010) gets 40+ on the freeway, but only 28-ish in the city...

The hybrid still gets 10-15% better mileage than the non-hybrid. I wouldn't call it "fake" it's just not a very big hybrid system.

People should be able to see from the gas mileage of a hybrid and a non-hybrid that there should be a difference.

Until the last barrel of crude is extracted, most will continue to drive gas-only vehicles. I know I do not trust any hybrid, yet.

I have no plans to buy a hybrid either unless they can make them cheaper than non-hybrid. I doubt that will ever happen.

If a car buyer cannot tell the difference between a gas engine car and a hybrid car and an electric car, they should not be driving.

Keep the marketing guys out of it. Engineer a true hybrid with excellent mileage and range, and it will sell.
