THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE TOPIC "Hyundai Santa Fe". I'M TRYING TO LIMIT THE TIME SPAN SO THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PAGES (4) DOES NOT GET REACHED, WHICH ALLOWS DATA AT THE END TO FALL OFF INTO THE "BIT BUCKET". LOOK FOR FUTURE "Hyundai Santa Fe" TOPICS WITH LIMITED TIME SPANS.

Other topics available:
Hyundai Santa Fe (January 2009 through May 2010)
Hyundai Santa Fe (August 2007 through December 2008)
Hyundai Santa Fe (March 2006 through July 2007)
Hyundai Santa Fe (August 2004 through February 2006)
Hyundai Santa Fe (September 2003 through July 2004)

I have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe with full-time 4 wheel drive and traction control (sends power to the non-slipping tires), ABS, tow package, 173 HP V6.

The standard warranty is 10 yr. / 100,000 mile powertrain, 5 yr. / 60,000 mile bumper to bumper (not transferrable to a new owner). I extended the bumper to bumper warranty to 10 yr. / 100,000 miles. Extending the warranty makes it transferrable to 1 new owner (doesn't work if it is traded in because the car dealership becomes the new owner temporarily...it must be sold to a private party for the new owner to take advantage of it). There is no deductible on the warranty. I received a credit card looking thing that has the VIN stamped on it and it says "Under warranty until 4/2011".

I love this vehicle! The gas mileage isn't the greatest (avg. 21 mpg) but I still love it. It's fun to drive and I've had very few problems with it and I've had it more than 80,000 miles.

Some people won't consider a Hyundai because of past reputation but believe me, they've come a long way. It's easy for people to say "I'd never get on because it's a Hyundai" but don't say that unless you've owned a newer model and have had trouble with it. In fact, I encourage people to post messages about problems they've had with their newer year model Hyundai's. I'd like to know what to expect although, up to this point, I've had very few problems.

Total bill would have been $650 so far for non-standard maintenance but the warranty covered these expenses.

Just bought a 2002 Santa Fe with 49,000 miles on it. Hoping to own it 3-4 years and then give to my son who is 14......

120,000 miles. Normal maintenance including replacement of timing belt. $1200. Also had to replace the rear differential gasket: $324.01 Still runs nice but starting to nickel and dime.

116,000 miles. I went ahead and got the ball joint repaired, installed 5 new tires and had a four-wheel alignment. $956. The original BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's were replaced with new BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's.

115,000 miles. The front driver's ball joint is going bad but I was told I should be able to make it until 120,000 miles...a time when a major maintenance interval will need to be done anyway. Otherwise, all is well.
